Following a competition, the Provender reception area design has been revealed. “As soon as you walk through the entrance doors of Provender, we wanted to create a space that reminded you of the history of the original building and connected you with your surroundings”, said Monica Lenore, the designer.
“As important as history is to this design, we also wanted to create a reception space that reflected the upscale nature of the project. We wanted a modern and vibrant feel that mirrors the exciting developments happening in the surrounding community.”
The Provender reception will include reclaimed wood, environmentally friendly LED lighting, porcelain tile cladding, designer pendant lighting, artwork, bronze tables, a velvet sofa and metallic porcelain tile floor throughout. These items were designed to celebrate the heart and soul of the original building by reflecting its industrial accents, colours and textures.
Monica added, “Many residents will remember the iconic blue coloured grain shaft and elevator. We wanted to preserve the memory of that historic part of the building and have recreated the tone and feel of that in a stunning 12-panel feature mural. The organic nature of the wall will reflect not only the iconic colour but also the texture of the wood and metal that featured in the original building. We are thrilled and excited to have been chosen by Rokeby Merchant Developments to design the reception for the Provender residents and look forward to the next phase of development. This is a hugely exciting time for Gloucester and we couldn’t be more proud to be a part of it.”
